Introducing thermo ash: bold tones and elevated acoustics in wall desig

NordicWall’s design philosophy is rooted in material honesty - but every now and then, we find new ways to evolve tradition. Our latest surface finish introduces thermo-treated ash wood to the collection: a darker, deeper, and more defined material that changes how walls feel and sound.

Seen here in precise vertical lamellas, the thermo ash slats offer intensified contrast when combined with a matte black acoustic felt. The result? A wall surface that is architectural in presence, rich in grain, and stunning in low light.

What makes thermo ash different

Through a high-temperature oxygen-free process, natural ash is transformed into a dimensionally stable, moisture-resistant, and visually rich material. The heat alters the cellular structure of the wood, bringing out deep caramel and espresso tones while enhancing durability.

Compared to oak, thermo ash offers sharper linear grain and greater tonal depth, making it ideal for bold, minimalist interiors that lean into contrast and shadow play.

Engineered for performance and aesthetics

Each slat is milled to 21x42mm with micro-bevelled edges and coated in a zero-gloss natural oil. Spacing remains modular and optimized for sound control, while the dark felt backing absorbs unwanted reflections - perfect for media rooms, executive offices, and gallery spaces.

With the growing demand for character-driven interiors, thermo ash offers designers and architects a new palette: one that is grounded in performance but unapologetically expressive.

Wood is timeless - but tone is transformative. Discover the new warmth and boldness of NordicWall in thermo ash.
