Caught Mid Laugh
A portrait session that refused to be a portrait session. We had a list of poses and a wall of good light; she had a phone and a friend on the other end of it. The list went in my bag.
Let it happen
The best frame is the one where she waves at someone I never saw. The yellow top does the rest.
A magazine portrait is usually a negotiation between what the subject wants to look like and what the editor wants them to look like. This one skipped the negotiation, because the subject forgot she was in one.

I shot the whole thing on the 85 from across the street. Close enough for the expression, far enough that the phone call stayed private. The editor asked for a serious one as well. There is one. It is not in the magazine.
