Glass and Sky

Low angle view of a glass tower's angular facades against a pale sky

Look up long enough in a financial district and the buildings start to lean towards each other. The picture is about that lean, and about the one slice of sky they leave.

Why look up

At street level the tower is a lobby and a revolving door. From below it becomes planes, and the planes make a drawing.

The practice wanted their building. I gave them their building and the two beside it, because a tower on its own is a product photograph and a tower among others is a place.

Shot at noon on purpose, when architecture photographers stay indoors. The light is flat, the glass is a mirror, and the sky is the only thing with a colour. That is the picture.
