Field of Red

The poppies were the reason for the drive, and for once the reason was enough. By seven the field had gone from red to redder and the light had come down to the height of the flowers.
Low sun
Long lens, wide open, and the camera on the ground so the petals catch the light from behind. Without the backlight the poppies are a colour; with it they are a lamp.
The field is a week long. I have missed it three years out of five and I no longer make plans for June that cannot be cancelled.

Twenty frames, one keeper, and a car that smelled of pollen for a month. Some pictures cost more than others; this one cost a Sunday and was cheap.
