Under the Whale

Whale shark and rays seen from below in a blue aquarium

A family day at the aquarium that turned into an afternoon under one fish. The children lay on the floor of the tunnel and so did I, with the camera pointed up at a whale shark the length of a bus.

Blue

Everything in the tunnel is blue, so the exposure is for the shark and the rest can go where it likes. The rays crossing the frame were luck.

The family wanted a portrait at the aquarium. This is the portrait: three children on their backs and a shark, and their faces are lit by it.

ISO 6400 and a lens wide open, because the tunnel is dark and a shark does not wait. The grain is fine. Nobody has ever looked at this picture and asked about the grain.
